Hawaiian Host x Alaska Airlines Golden Ticket
On July 22, 2022, Diamond Head Theatre (DHT) celebrated the opening night of Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, based on the beloved author’s classic about zany candy maker Willy Wonka and the children who were given a chance to see what really went on inside his fantastic factory.
The theater was packed as keiki and grownups alike came to watch the premiere performance. And in true Willy Wonka fashion, a golden ticket was also waiting to be won at Diamond Head Theatre that evening. Thanks to confection sponsor Hawaiian Host, opening-night guests were each treated to the local label’s Flavors of Aloha artisan chocolate bars. Hidden in one of the delicious bars was a golden ticket!
“Diamond Head Theatre is more than a century old, and as Hawaiian Host celebrates its 95th anniversary this year, we were proud to partner with an institution with an equally rich history as ours,” says Theresa Tuxhorn, Director of Global Marketing, Hawaiian Host & KOHO.
Hawaiian Host donated a little more than 500 bars for all the attendees that night. One lucky winner, Larry Paxton, discovered the surprise ticket inside his chocolate bar and won two round trip tickets on Alaska Airlines (event co-sponsor) to anywhere the airline flies.
Today, Diamond Head Theatre is in the midst of being “reimagined and thoughtfully constructed as the contemporary and visionary live theatre center that it was meant to be.” One more show (Anything Goes) is slated to be performed at the current auditorium before it closes, and its new theater is expected to open in early 2023.
Road Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is on stage until Aug. 14, 2022. For more information or to purchase tickets, check out DHT’s new website at diamondheadtheatre.com.
