For some, it’s an unforgettable vacation. For us at Mauna Loa, it’s home. Beginning in 1946, in the shadow of Mauna Loa volcano herself, we learned to grow and roast our macadamias to produce a nut with luscious buttery flavor and satisfying crunch—becoming a Hawaiian icon in the process.
We believe macadamias can help to create a better way, a better life, and a better world. They require far less water than almonds and other tree nuts. Additionally, we continue to seek ways to use the whole nut to make our company more sustainable, and reduce our carbon footprint, including cleanly burning their shells to produce renewable energy while also reducing our waste—and that’s just the beginning.
